Bukit Batok's HDB new town construction began in the early 1980s, the same wave of development that built Tampines and Serangoon, and parquet was the standard flooring specified throughout.
Bukit Batok was developed as a full HDB new town starting in the early 1980s, integrating the older Gombak and Hillview areas into a single planned estate. Like its contemporaries Tampines and Serangoon, its earliest flats were finished with parquet as the standard bedroom and living-room flooring.
Because much of Bukit Batok's original housing stock was built within a fairly tight window in the early-to-mid 1980s, a large share of the estate shares the same original parquet flooring, now well into its fifth decade.
HDB began construction on Bukit Batok (then referred to as Bukit Batok/Gombak) in the early 1980s, as one of seven new towns started in that period alongside Jurong East, Jurong West, Serangoon, Tampines and Woodlands.
The estate absorbed older areas like Hillview into its broader planning boundary, but the bulk of Bukit Batok's housing stock dates from this single early-1980s construction wave — meaning much of its original parquet is roughly the same age across the estate.
With many original owners still in residence, this parquet has often gone decades without professional refinishing, showing typical wear patterns: dulling in high-traffic areas, gaps from humidity cycling, and staining near kitchens and bathrooms.
Bukit Batok's original early-1980s parquet is generally in restorable condition, making sanding and refinishing the more practical option over replacement. We handle parquet floor repair for gaps, warping and water-stained boards, parquet polishing to bring back the shine on dulled floors, and full parquet restoration for homes where decades of wear call for a whole-floor refinish.

Our group offers full marble polishing services — grinding, honing, crystallization, stain removal, and chip or crack repair — for surfaces that have dulled, yellowed or etched over time.
View Marble Services →Bukit Batok's mix of original HDB windows and newer developments near Le Quest both benefit from a flexible, no-drill screen solution. Our MSeal magnetic insect screens fit over almost all window and door types without drilling, blocking mosquitoes (including dengue-carrying Aedes mosquitoes), flies and other insects while keeping airflow through the home.
