Bukit Merah is home to Redhill's 1955 public housing blocks and the 1920s Tiong Bahru estate, giving it some of the oldest original timber flooring found anywhere in Singapore.
Bukit Merah covers Tiong Bahru, Redhill, Telok Blangah, Mount Faber and Tanjong Pagar — a cluster of some of Singapore's earliest planned residential areas. Redhill's 21 blocks of public housing, built in 1955, were among the country's very first, and Tiong Bahru's flats go back even further, to the 1920s under the Singapore Improvement Trust.
With building stock this old, Bukit Merah has original timber flooring spanning nearly a century — from pre-war SIT walk-ups to 1970s-80s parquet in its later blocks.
Redhill's 21 housing blocks, comprising 878 flats, were built in 1955 by the Singapore Improvement Trust and nicknamed "Chik Lau Chu" (seven-storey houses) in Hokkien — among the oldest public housing still in use in Singapore.
Tiong Bahru, part of the same Bukit Merah planning area, was developed even earlier, from the 1920s, making it the oldest housing estate in Singapore and home to flooring that predates HDB's own founding by decades.
As Bukit Merah continued developing through the 1960s, 70s and 80s to accommodate its growing population, later blocks were finished with the parquet flooring standard of those decades — meaning the town today holds original timber flooring from nearly every era of Singapore's housing history.
From SIT-era timber floors to 1970s-80s HDB parquet, Bukit Merah's original flooring usually has real heritage value worth preserving through restoration. We handle parquet floor repair for gaps, warping and water-stained boards, parquet polishing to bring back the shine on dulled floors, and full parquet restoration for homes where decades of wear call for a whole-floor refinish.
View Parquet Services →Bukit Merah's mix of older flats and newer condo developments near the CBD both commonly feature marble that benefits from professional care. Our group offers full marble polishing services — grinding, honing, crystallization, stain removal, and chip or crack repair — for surfaces that have dulled, yellowed or etched over time.
View Marble Services →Bukit Merah's older SIT and HDB blocks often have original window frames that need a flexible, no-drill screen solution. Our MSeal magnetic insect screens fit over almost all window and door types without drilling, blocking mosquitoes (including dengue-carrying Aedes mosquitoes), flies and other insects while keeping airflow through the home.

No juggling three separate vendors who don't know your home.
Renovation-time visits planned together instead of independently.
A leak affecting both parquet and nearby marble skirting is one visit, not two.
Refinish rather than replace, no-drill rather than permanent, wherever possible.
