Pasir Ris was developed in the late 1980s as one of HDB's last major new towns of that decade, right at the tail end of parquet's run as the standard HDB flooring.
Pasir Ris was built out between 1985 and 1987, alongside Bishan, Bukit Panjang and Choa Chu Kang, as part of HDB's late-1980s new town programme. It became known early on for its resort-like character — beach frontage, wide green spaces, and a more relaxed layout than earlier estates.
That construction window still falls within the period when parquet was standard flooring, which is why original timber floors are common in Pasir Ris's oldest blocks, even though the estate is younger than places like Bedok or Toa Payoh.
Pasir Ris New Town's construction in the late 1980s came at the tail end of parquet's era as HDB's default flooring choice, just before ceramic tile and vinyl began replacing it through the 1990s.
Because Pasir Ris developed relatively quickly as a large, planned new town, much of its original housing stock shares the same era of construction and finishes, including the parquet laid into bedrooms and living rooms.
Original owners who bought into Pasir Ris in its early years have often stayed long-term, meaning a good number of these late-1980s parquet floors are still original — now approaching 40 years old and typically due for restoration.
Pasir Ris's original late-1980s parquet is usually in good structural condition and responds well to sanding and refinishing. We handle parquet floor repair for gaps, warping and water-stained boards, parquet polishing to bring back the shine on dulled floors, and full parquet restoration for homes where decades of wear call for a whole-floor refinish.
View Parquet Services →Many Pasir Ris homes near the coast and parks have also added marble in bathrooms and living spaces over the years. Our group offers full marble polishing services — grinding, honing, crystallization, stain removal, and chip or crack repair — for surfaces that have dulled, yellowed or etched over time.
View Marble Services →Pasir Ris's parks, beach frontage and greenery make insect protection especially relevant for homes here. Our MSeal magnetic insect screens fit over almost all window and door types without drilling, blocking mosquitoes (including dengue-carrying Aedes mosquitoes), flies and other insects while keeping airflow through the home.
View Insect Screen Services →Homes often need more than one type of repair at once. Coordinating them with a single provider saves time and avoids repeat visits.
No juggling three separate vendors who don't know your home.
Renovation-time visits planned together instead of independently.
A leak affecting both parquet and nearby marble skirting is one visit, not two.
Refinish rather than replace, no-drill rather than permanent, wherever possible.
